Race Day

7:00 a.m.

I actually slept late lol!  Normally I don't like being hot while I'm sleeping but the electric blanket has been my friend while it's been so cold here in South Carolina.  Thankfully it wasn't raining and I was able to take the dogs for a walk.

9:00 a.m.

After eating breakfast - scrambled eggs with the yummy croissant I had gotten at the French bakery downtown Rock Hill, Clinton and I got around early and left the campground for Charlotte, North Carolina.  We thought we would go to the Charlotte Motor Speedway.  I had read that they give tours every hour and it only cost $12.

We got there around 10:00, hoping to go on the 10:30 tour.  Unfortunately they were only giving tours at 2:30.  We wanted to go on the tour so we decided to get the tickets and do other things until then.  This is when divine connection occurred!  We walked into the gift shop and started talking the lady that worked in there.  We didn't even ask her what t…

A Free Lunch and a French Bakery

6:30 a.m.

Amazingly enough I had a great night of sleep.  The reason why this was so amazing was because it poured all day yesterday and into the night.  The sound of rain is amplified in an RV.  It was so loud we could barely hear the TV!  It was also very chilly - getting down in the upper 30's.  I dug out the electric blanket that I threw under the bed before leaving and it kept me nice and toasty.

Thankfully it wasn't raining when I got up so I took the dogs for a long walk.  They didn't get much of a bathroom break last night.  We traveled yesterday (Monday) a little over three hours to the north east corner of South Carolina.  We are camped at Andrew Jackson State Park.  It is a small state park south of Charlotte, NC.  There are 25 campsites and two other campers besides us.  We have a pretty spot overlooking the lake.

We got around slowly today.  Even though it wasn't raining, it was still dark and cloudy.  Thankfully we wer…

Sunday at Myrtle Beach

Sunday, November 11, 2018 - Veteran's Day
9:30 a.m.
It's been a while since we've had to get up and be ready at a certain time.  For 30 years, I was constantly on a time schedule.  Now it is really nice to just get around at a much slower pace.  But this morning we had decided we wanted to go to church so that meant getting around quicker.
By 9:30, we had taken care of the dogs, gotten ready, eaten a breakfast of yogurt, granola, and blueberries, and was sitting in church.  We did a little research online and found a large, nondenominational church called Beach Church.
Since we had left our hometown in Missouri a month ago, we attended church with my cousin in Nashville and we attended a church service in our campground in the Smokies Mountains.  It felt so good to be back in church!  It was such an amazing service.  They had a special service for veterans.  It was so patriotic and made us feel so good about living in the United States and having the freedom to do what …

One Month on the Road!

Saturday, November 10, 2018

It's hard to believe one month ago, we pulled out of our driveway in Missouri and headed out for this crazy camping adventure!  It's getting better and better!

6:30 a.m.

I started the day with my morning routine - walk the dogs, drink coffee, read Bible.  It was cool - low 50's but it felt good outside so I sat on the picnic table and worked on yesterday's blog.  Click on the link below to see a cute little video from our Instagram stories of Truman this morning:
11:00 a.m.
I worked on our blog for a couple of hours and we ate fried egg on whole grain toast, and fruit salad for breakfast.

Myrtle Beach is an RV haven - there are so many RV campgrounds!  That also means there are quite a few RV dealerships.  And there's one thing we love do - check out new RV's.  We stopped at several dealerships, enjoying the sunny day.  We ended up at Campers Inn RV and met the nicest salesman, Nate! …

An Off-Season Day in Myrtle Beach

6:00 a.m.

Oh the joys of traveling with dogs!  We woke up to Charlie wanting to go outside really bad - but I didn't get up in time - he ended up peeing on the floor in the kitchen.  Thankfully it is linoleum and cleaned up easily.  The sun was just starting to come up and Charlie and I took a relaxing walk on the beach.  It felt great outside - upper 50's.

11:00 a.m.

We were lazy this morning and took our time getting around.  After breakfast we headed out to explore Myrtle Beach.

I'm sure during the summer months, it would take quite a while to drive up and down Ocean Boulevard but for us, it didn't take long at all.  Looking at all the high rise hotels was OK but we really enjoyed the luxury homes that lined the streets.

12:30 p.m.

We really didn't see anything we wanted to do on Ocean Boulevard so we drove to Market Common.  Market Common is a beautiful town by itself!  It has beautiful, new townhouse homes, quaint streets with sidewalks …
