A Rainy Day on the Outer Banks
I got up and walked the dogs. It was still dark and windy but it was so warm! I found the dog park and Truman and Charlie loved running around without a leash. There was a bench inside the park and I watched the first strands of sun streaking the sky. I need to remember to always take my phone with me!
Clinton was still snoozing due to being awake half the night from the strong wind so I let him sleep while I enjoyed a quiet walk on the beach. It was truly breathtaking!
I fixed a breakfast in the RV of scrambled eggs, sausage, leftover black bean and corn salad (from dinner out last night), fruit salad
We took the dogs on their first long walk on the beach. It was breezy and in the upper 60's. It felt great! The dogs loved it!
It looks very stormy in these pictures! It did rain when we got back to the RV but it was very warm - felt great!
We drove to the southern end of the Outer Banks. We drove through little communities like Avon and Frisco. The sun came out for awhile and it warmed up to the upper 70's!
We made our way to one of my bucket list locations - Cape Hatteras Lighthouse!
It was beautiful! Since we were there in the off season, we didn't get to go up to the top but that was OK with us - that's a lot of steps! I got my national park book stamped and we visited the small museum on the grounds.
We then drove a short distance to where the lighthouse was located until 1999, when it was moved because of the eroding shoreline.
We snacked on sweet potato chips and peanut butter crackers on the way back to the RV.
We got back to the RV and I went to the main office area at the KOA we are camping at to see if the wifi was faster there so I could upload the video from exploring downtown Raleigh. It wasn't so I went back to the RV.
We did laundry in between walking on the beach and watching sand crabs. Those things fascinate us! We even took some GoPro footage of one digging out his spot.
I cooked dinner in the RV - Chinese chicken and broccoli with cauliflower rice.
We spent the rest of the evening watching TV. I worked on the blog as well.
We really love this area and would like to come back someday!
Stay happy Campers!
